The Heinz Nixdorf Institute is a research center for computer science and technology at the University of Paderborn. The Expert Group for Strategic Product Planning and Systems Engineering has expertise in the areas of strategic product, technology and business planning, development methodology for mechatronic systems / systems engineering and self-optimizing or intelligent technical systems and production system planning. For example. In the BMBF joint project INBENZHAP, future options for the location Germany in the context of Industry 4.0 and recommendations for action for production research are developed. The aim of the BMWi joint project GEMINI are methods and tools for the development of business models for Industry 4.0. In the "Cross-sectional Project Systems Engineering" of the BMBF Leading-Edge Cluster it's OWL (Spokesperson: Prof. Gausemeier), a toolkit is developed for the interdisciplinary development of intelligent products and production systems. Against this background, the project focus is on the foresight of markets, technologies and business environments to derive an enterprise-adequate target maturity.
