Universität Stuttgart, Institut Steuerungstechnik der Werkzeugmaschinen

The Institute of Control Technology of Machine Tools and Manufacturing Facilities (ISW) at the University of Stuttgart is one of the leading international research institutes in the field of control technology - from planning to tools. The ISW researches interdisciplinary technologies for the production and automation of the day after tomorrow. For the industry, we have been an innovative and reliable partner for challenging challenges from the first idea to the product for more than 50 years.

The core competencies of the ISW are still in the field of industrial control and drive technology as well as production IT. This includes research and development activities on innovative control concepts, whose implementation ranges from embedded to cloud-based solutions. Industrial communication ranges from the hard real-time field level to machine networking in the cloud. Further developments in the area of simulation and engineering make the increasing complexity manageable.
